WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MASTERCAMP
MasterCamp is a three-day summer camp experience for debate students between the ages of 13 to 18 who are looking to become masters of their craft. Tena’s approach with MasterCamp is to go beyond the technical communication skills and work with students on how to approach their competition year with confidence and integrity.
Students will learn how to harness their communication strengths and become stronger in areas that need development. Students will also be led through a focused goal-setting session to plan out the year and analyze those goals in light of the upcoming competition season. We will discuss the important skill of learning how to take constructive feedback and the importance of teachability.
Time will be spent on resolutional analyses of the 2024 NCFCA Team Policy and Lincoln-Douglas debate resolutions. We'll also spend time learning how to become more effective in cross examination. If your student is ready to take the next step in their communication journey, MasterCamp is for you!
As with all our camps, parent participation is not required at MasterCamp but it is strongly encouraged. Parents, your presence and engagement in each session will help you and your student gain mutual knowledge and understanding. Taking the time to be at camp will better equip you to see the big picture of how debate fits into your student’s education and the important role you play. There is no fee for parent participation.
