WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ELEVATED
If you are experienced in debate and looking for a camp that goes beyond the basics, Elevated Debate is for you! Tena offers this unique summer debate camp for students to go beyond the basics and cultivate virtue through the development of advanced debate skills.
Designed for students age 13 to 18, Elevated is a three-day camp for students who have at least one year of competitive debate experience. Tena’s approach is centered around the idea that debate can be a powerful tool for building character and developing virtuous qualities in young people. Elevated teaches the importance of persuasive communication skills and advanced debate philosophy to create well-rounded, thoughtful individuals. By emphasizing the development of virtues such as honesty, empathy, and critical thinking, Elevated aims to equip students with the skills they need to succeed both in debate and in life. Students will be challenged to strive for excellence while also nurturing their intellectual and moral growth.
As with all our camps, parent participation is not required at Elevated but it is strongly encouraged. Parents, your presence and engagement in each session will help you and your student gain mutual knowledge and understanding. Taking the time to be at camp will better equip you to see the big picture of how debate fits into your student’s education and the important role you play. There is no fee for parent participation.
"With two girls expressing very different communication styles, this class was pivotal for them to grow closer by understanding on another allowing them to, "With all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love." (Ephesians 4:2) I also felt equipped as a parent to come alongside them and edify with the knowledge of their differences and encourage them."

"The camp really helped me. It was like a foundation that is needed to build a house. Instead of me laying a foundation all year, because of this camp, I was actually able to learn what I needed in three days and I was able compete this year! It was also fun. I loved the competitions and all the Crosbys were extremely nice and helpful. Mrs. Crosby has a way of making complicated ideas simple and able for people to comprehend."
